I'm mthree. Those are my initials. Always have been, and thanks to a hubby with a "M" last name; always will be.

I've been a designer for over ten years, I was an animator and a filmmaker once, I was a bride before I was a photographer, I'm a new business owner, but I've always been an artist.

You can get a glimpse of where I've been, a better look at where I am and a peek at where I'm going right here.

Behind and running late...

I'm two days behind on posts but it is only because I have been sooooo busy with meetings and work. A good kind of busy to be sure. I have had six meetings with various clients in the last two days alone.

Tomorrow my assistant and I head to Green Bay to capture Jackie and Jeff's backyard barbeque wedding. It should be a blast and the weather is promising to be utterly perfect - 77 and sunny. I promise to post a few teaser images as soon as possible. I know pictures have been a bit light (okay, non-existant) in the past few days, but some fresh wedding eye candy should make up for it!

Enjoy your labor day holiday!!

I'm featured on Wedding Bee today!

How cool is this?!? Our wedding is one of the knottie bios of the week on www.weddingbee.com today!
I have no idea how this occured, but I'm kind of stoked about it!

For those of you who are totally confused right now: A "knottie" is a bride who is a member of theknot.com, and the "bio" is the page you put together about your wedding. WeddingBee is a great wedding blog (seperate from theknot.com), and every week one of the "bees", Miss Bird of Paradise (the bees are named after flowers, vegetables, candy, etc.) picks a couple of bios to showcase.

Check it out on www.weddingbee.com - I am "lucky7wife"

Save the Date

I took a break from the computer work to print out Sara and Nick's Save the Dates (and envelopes). They are all lined up on the floor, drying. I get such a kick our seeing the multiples of projects all layed out.
There are still a few components to put together before they are finished, but at least they are started. You should see the final result on the blog later this week.
Back to more design work....

I'm busy with a TON of design work today...I'll be chained to the computer most of the day.

Enjoy and Have a great Monday!

Wierd and Fantastic Green (and Pink!) Sky!

So I'm sitting at my desk, designing away and suddenly the light in my office changes. I look outside, and I tell you the light outside was green. The sky was this odd green-grey color and the light everywhere was this eerie green tone. I grabbed my camera and braved our swamp/jungle yard (did I mention it has been raining buckets for days?).

I've left all of these photos un-retouched so you could see how weird it really looked.

And then, the light changed again - to pink! I swear to you, the sky was pink, and suddenly my skin looked great.
This phenomenon makes me seriously consider scheduling engagement sessions inbetween thunderstorms. (Of course
my grandpa used to say green and pink skies like this usually meant a tornado was coming...ah, what great shot isn't
worth a little wind?)

That last pic was a pleasant surprise to find in the backyard. So innocently pretty.

Picture a Day - Optimus

I'm a few days behind on my picture a day promise. Number one, it has been raining buckets here for days so going outside for pics has been well - a dreary experience. And not much has been happening here at the studio lately. I'm super busy, but not on anything blog worthy yet - it is all prep work. I did briefly consider shots of my computer screen, but thought better of it. Leave it to our friends Craig and Jamie to bring me out of the picture slump. We had our usual Wednesday night dinner and they brought their puppy, Optimus Prime over and we tried in vain to get him to stand still long enough to get a clear pic of him. Well, Jamie and I tried. Craig played video games. So, I'm making up for my abstenteeism with several pictures today. Oh, and if there is such a thing as a puppy photographer out there, you have my respect.

Picture a Day - BREWERS WIN!

I took my dad to the Brewers vs. Reds game Saturday night (it is technically Sunday morning as I post this - I also went to a Bachelorette party). It was fun, despite the rain and abnormally cold temperatures. (Thank goodness for that roof!) Trying to live up to my "picture a day" promise, I toted the camera along.

Only in wisconsin do they show preseason football scores in the middle of a baseball game:

The Brewers won! Take that cubbies!

Incidentally, so did the Choirizo. I was pretty excited about that because he is my favorite, and he hasn't won a sausage race yet when I have been there.

HARMONY & DARIN

Harmony and Darin had a beautiful wedding day. The love between them was so apparent, they only had eyes for each other all day long. They could have gotten married in potato sacks in a back alley and been just as happy I think. It was a priviledge to witness the formation of this new little family (Darin has a five year old son). It is always flattering to be chosen to capture such an important day in people's lives. As a photographer, I get to spend more time with the couple than anyone that day really, and it is always such an honor.
Harmony and Darin are swing dancers too, and so were 75% of their guests it seemed! Their first dance quickly dissolved into a Swing Jam which really got everyone off their seats. Needless to say, the dancing portion of the evening was so fun to watch. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

A Picture a Day

So, I've decided to challenge myself and carry my camera with me as much as possible, wherever I go. Everyone can always improve their skills, and I'm always telling my animation students that their artistic ability is a muscle they have to train, like an athlete would. While I sit here for several days editing and don't shoot anything, my photography muscle is getting atrophied! So, I'm going to post a picture a day on the blog. I'm sure I'll miss a day here or there, but hopefully setting up this little challenge for myself will force me to get up and go see something, even if it is only my backyard.

Today's picture was taken last weekend. It's a fairly accurate depiction of what hubby thinks of this idea.

Just kidding, he is very supportive. :0)

Our nephew, the Marine

Our nephew just graduated from boot camp and can now call himself a Marine. So, the family gathered on Sunday to celebrate at my sister's house. Despite the sweltering heat our niece Jordan managed to latch on to hubby and turn him into a carnival ride, completely wearing him out.

I can't even express how proud I am of Logan for becoming a Marine. I know a lot of people get thru boot camp, but for this kid in particular, it is a really wonderful accomplishment that we were all so happy to see. He is thirty pounds heavier (in a solid, good way) and stands and walks with an air of maturity and confidence he never had before.

Congrats Logan!

Phew!

I'm exhausted!
Here are a few images I edited while waiting for the just under 2,000 photos I took today to download from the Flash Cards. I'm too tired to comment, except to say Harmony and Darin's Day was wonderful, and I promise to share more soon....
I'm off to bed!

Another one out the door!

Today Harmony comes to pick up all of the components for her wedding - and another wedding by mthree Studio is out the door! She and her fiance have been a complete delight to work with from day one. I took their engagement pictures about a year ago, and have now done their save the dates, invitations, programs, table numbers, placecards, menus, signage, guest book, card box and favor tags. And next week I'll be photographing their wedding. They are my first official "Whole Shebang" clients (using all of my services for a discount) and I am really going to miss them.

Their place cards were all lined up on my office floor this morning - like a little wedding army, waiting to be alphabetized. And now everthing is all boxed up in anticipation.

Watch the website for their wedding components to show up - and the blog for some of their wedding pictures.

On to the next project...
