I'm mthree. Those are my initials. Always have been, and thanks to a hubby with a "M" last name; always will be.

I've been a designer for over ten years, I was an animator and a filmmaker once, I was a bride before I was a photographer, I'm a new business owner, but I've always been an artist.

You can get a glimpse of where I've been, a better look at where I am and a peek at where I'm going right here.

WOW. What a weekend!

Two of our favorite and most looked forward to summer events ended up on the same weekend this year: Jimmy Buffet and the County Fair Demo Derby. You know what they say about too much of a good thing? Well, we are definately tired, but it sure was fun! And, as a bonus both events provide great opportunites to sharpen not just my general photography skills, but my storytelling ones too. I've shared some of my favorite shots from the weekend here.

For anyone else who loves Buffet, you know it is all about the tailgating. We like to think we tailgate like no one else. We upped the ante this year with a kid's swimming pool crowded with Corona and a few pirate rubber duckies. My abilities to take pictures after a few long islands or margaritas (thanks bartender Mike!) always amaze me. And every once in awhile someone grabs my camera from me and I show up in a few pictures as well.

Hubby and his buddies have been running in the demo derby since before I met him (8 years ago). They have their own team (a total of 7 drivers this year) and take the whole thing very seriously talking strategy and building cars for; what seems like to us girls, all year long. Unfortunately, they also take Jimmy Buffet seriously. So, we partied hard on Saturday (though you will see one of them took a nap) and then crashed into each other even harder on Sunday. Two of them made it into the finals this year (hubby included), but neither won. For the first time though, it didn't seem to bother any of them. Guess that Buffet buzz was still in effect... I didn't even get mad that my new camera bag (Shootsac!) got all muddy.

Falling Flowers

I've been out of the office for the better part of the last two days doing a favor for a friend. I haven't done mural painting in some time, but every once in awhile a request comes in that I can't refuse. Here are some pictures of the painting I did in a little four year old girl's room. Alex is sweet, feminine and super spunky, so we took her already pink walls and added some girly charm to them.
The whole scheme was inpired by an inivitation by "oh joy!" studios. Alex loves it and so does her mom. Mission Accomplished.

Thanks, Dierks!

Today was mine and hubby's two month wedding anniversary (I think you get to celebrate every month without shame for the first year) and so we fittingly went to Country Thunder. Dierks Bentley was playing and we were very much hoping he would sing our wedding song "My Last Name". The concert ended with not one note of our song - but then he did a cool acoustic banjo version for the encore. We were so excited! It couldn't have been more perfect. Thanks Dierks!

Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime was in my office today! Not the transformer, the brand new puppy of our friends'. Kind of a funny name for a miniature wiener dog. But, he does have a studded collar.
This pic was taken during the one nanonsecond he held still long enough for me to get one. He did really like to smell the lens though.

New Office, New Blog

Hubby took the day off last week and we traveled to the land of Illinois and got furniture for my new office. I feel so coordinated now.

Seriously though, it is nice to not be designing and editing from a folding table anymore. I can now walk into the part of our house that is "my office" and really feel like I am going to work. Though this work still doesn't feel like work.
